When I begin working with a new client I first try to understand what their website is trying to achieve. Many often display a general idea of the path they want to follow – friendly, professional, reliable, fashionable, etc. These paths are also often well chosen and it is rare I see a website with totally the wrong idea. The key factor I try to establish is at what point a website is visually faltering. I do not simply wade in with improvements without getting the full picture. It is important that everything is kept uniform. Simple organisation is the key – diagnosis before treatment.

Should they have problems, virtually all the websites I assess suffer from one or more of the following:

Your website may suffer from one of the following:

01. A poor navigation system.
02. Overcrowded pages, especially the home page.
03. Poor visual uniformity from section to section.
04. An uncomplimentary or garish colour scheme.
05. No truly defining company logo.
06. A second-rate or rushed appearance.
07. No obvious definition at a glance of what your website offers.
08. A number of other small visual flaws or clashes.

I am a very friendly person by nature and typically discuss every step with my clients before progressing to the next. However, I appreciate entirely from my own experience that people can be too busy to talk. If this is your case I would be happy to carry out the whole process with minimum communication on your behalf.
